However, do not put just any mail.As with every other information in your resume, email should also look professional. Let’s see the example below.melindacoulson@gmail.com Rightmelly2105@gmail.com WrongAs seen in the table, it is not a good idea to use your nicknamed emails for business purposes. The best thing to do would be to make one email only for business and job applications, in order to avoid confusion. As for the email providers, it is better to use some of the most known providers, such as Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo.Social media profilesToday’s world depends a lot on the internet and, as of recently, it relies a lot on social media. You can find almost anyone who has the internet on social media.Even today’s companies tend to advertise themselves on different social media platforms, depending on their field and market conditions. So, now that we know that, the question is whether to share your social media profiles on your resume or not? Well, the simple answer is that you could. However, before you do that, you need to make sure that your social media profiles look good and professional, allowing recruiters to meet you, but also to get a sense of professionalism in you.The most important social media profile you should share is your LinkedIn profile. Before you do that, however, be sure to fix your profile link first. If you are not sure how to do that, take a look at the example below.linkedin.com/in/melinda-coulson Rightlinkedin.com/in/melinda-coulson-2x987456 WrongAs you can see in the table, the link in the left column is slightly edited, making it look more professional and easier to read, which would probably be appreciated by anyone who would have the job to read your resume.GUIDE ON WRITING THE SUMMARY SECTIONWe know we had said that resumes should be short and w ithout too much unnecessary information. However, it would be a good idea to write a short summary section, even though it would just be the replay of stuff that is already in the resume. The summary section should contain the most important information about your current or previous jobs, the things you learned by doing those jobs and some achievements you might’ve picked on the way. Let’s check the example.SummaryFlight Attendant with 5 years of experience in international flights. Worked in Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines, where I got the experience in working with people and making sure they are safe and satisfied while they are on their flights. During the process, I learned CPR, AED and the process of giving the first aid. I also have the necessary aircraft training. RightSummaryA flight attendant with 5 years of experience. WrongAs shown in this example, you should open with your current position or title, following by years of experience and personal achievements, ski lls, and field of work.By doing that you separate yourself from the crowd of people who write generic resumes with bland information, such is the one in the right column of the table. You should make it look professional, by sharing as much information as possible, but still keeping the summary short, not longer than a few sentences.GUIDE ON WRITING THE EXPERIENCE SECTIONAlmost everything in your resume should be written in the reverse-chronological order, meaning that you would first write the things that happened recently, then go further to the past.Writing the experience section is one of those things. You should first state your current or past job, then go back to the past and finish with your first job.Another important thing to remember is that you should try to write something about the job you did in each company, as shown in the example. Right WrongGUIDE ON WRITING THE EDUCATION SECTIONNow that you are done with writing the experience section, you need to go back to the past and write something about your education. The method is completely the same. You should first write the highest education that you had received, then moving back to the past. However, sometimes you don’t have to write more than one school or university. If you are very experienced in what you do, it is better only to state your highest education and write more about all that experience you got, which would help you preserve some space and keep more important things in your resume.Same as with the experience section, make sure to write a couple of points about your student activities and personal achievements. If you had good grades, you could also put your GPA score, along with the Dean’s list, in case that you make onto it for several semesters, or if the criteria for being on the Dean’s list was very high.If you feel unsure about how to do it and you’re afraid of making a mistake, feel free to use our resume template creator to help you do it in just a couple of minutes. Right WrongGUIDE ON WRITING THE SKILLS SECTIONThe skills section is where you are supposed to write all about the skills you have. One thing to note here is that you shouldn’t write every skill you have, even though it is good to know a lot and to be skilled as much as possible.Instead, you should focus on sharing the skills that are closely related to the job position you are applying for because different jobs require different skills. Let’s see the example below.SkillsProfessional skills:FAA certificationCertification for basic medical assistance (CPR and First Aid)Good with peopleCompassionateKnowledge of safety regulations on flightsKnowledge of the plane layout (emergency exit, door controls, etc.)Languages:English (native)French (fluent)Spanish (basic)Other skills:OrganizedCommunicative RightSkillsHTML, CSS, Python, Great personal skills WrongAs seen in the example, it would be wrong to include certain skills, even though they are highly-valued. The problem is, most of them a re pretty useless for flight attendant position. So, instead of throwing all the skills you have on the paper, you should only select those important to your position.Another thing to note is that you should try to divide your skills into categories and use bulleting lists to make your skills look easier to read. That could help the recruiters to compare your skills with skills they need to find in the perfect applicant, thus, potentially increasing your chance of getting that job.TIPS TRICKSWe’ve covered the most important sections of each resume and learned how to write them, what information to write, and what not to write.Let’s talk about some minor things that could be very important when it comes to making your perfect resume, and those are:Picking good font style â€" the usual start of writing every document is to choose the right font. When it comes to writing a resume, you want your resume to both to look professional and to picture your personality at the same time. Tha t said, there is no need for one standardized font to use. You could use whatever you want. However, you shouldn’t use handwritten font styles because they are harder to read and could cause some trouble to recruiters. You never know how old someone is.The right resume size â€" some people tend to have resumes that are 3 pages in length. You might think that it is good that way because they do have a lot of experience and need space to write everything down, but you would be wrong. Every resume should be no longer than 1, maximum 2 pages. You can put every important thing on your resume and still keep it short enough. The only thing you need to do is to separate the important information and the useless ones.Bulleting lists â€" since resumes should contain a lot of information, but to stay short at the same time, you should use any help you can find to reduce unnecessary text. One good way to do that would be to use bulleting lists. It would remove any unneeded words and sentences , and it would also make it much easier for recruiters to read our resume. That way, it would look more professional.Good file format for your resume â€" when it comes to selecting the file format for your resume, we could say that there are two possible options that are both really good. People usually use either TXT or PDF file format. TXT files format is much easier to edit, which is why it is often used for resumes, especially when you are a fast learner and need to update your resume a lot. However, PDF looks much more professional, so we have to pick it as the recommended file format for your resume. If you are worried about having to update your resume a lot, then make sure to keep a copy of your resume in TXT format and edit it whenever you need to. Just don’t forget to convert it to PDF before you send it to recruiters.Custom or manual template â€" another thing that could help you to describe your personality in your resume, apart from font style, is the resume template. The template could show what kind of person you are, whether you are organized or dynamic. By doing that, you let recruiters get to know you better and perhaps make the decision about hiring you much easier than it would be the case if they didn’t have some additional information. You can always create your own resume template, which could be the best idea. However, if you don’t have time to do it, or you just feel afraid of doing it, feel free to use our resume template creator and just fill in all the information we had talked about, and you will have your resume ready in a couple of minutes.Checking the email regularly â€" you know how emails can be buggy and messages could often get lost in the spam folder? That is the reason for you to check your emails regularly, even spam folder, in order not to miss a chance of getting the job you had applied for. Some recruiters might even call you via phone, but checking your emails regularly is a must.Re-reading your resume â€" once you are done with writing your resume, what you should do is go back and read it while pretending to be a recruiter searching for a new employee. That way, you will look at your resume from a different perspective and see if you might’ve missed something earlier while you were writing the resume. By doing that, you will completely polish your resume and make it ready to be sent out and get you your interview invitation.Edit resume to fit the job â€" like we had said above, not every job requires the same skills. Meaning that not every resume is fitting for every job. That means you should check what are the details of the job position you want to apply for and try to edit your resume to completely fit that position. Add some skills that are required, if you have them and remove those that are not so important. That way, you will increase your chance of getting the job.Mentioning political opinion â€" we often hear about how people get jobs because they have friends in high places or because they share the same political opinion as to the company’s top. That drives a lot of people to write about their political opinion in their resumes. Yes, it could be beneficial, but it is not recommended to do so since it can also backfire, which mostly does. Perhaps the person responsible for recruitment doesn’t share your opinion, in which case, your resume could just be put on the side and forgotten. That’s why you should avoid mentioning any political opinions and activities you might have had.Using proper grammar â€" another very good way to show professionalism in your resume is not to have grammar mistakes. Trust me when I say that no one likes to see the resume with grammar mistakes. It looks very unprofessional and gives the impression that the person responsible for it is not such a good candidate after all.Add new things to your resume â€" people learn new things from time to time. We tend to acquire new skills, achieve great things and get some experience by doing it. That’s why you should really update your resume whenever you achieve something important, whether it is just a new skill or simply a great achievement that could help you with getting the job.CONCLUSIONThat was it for today’s guide. We learned how to write a perfect Flight Attendant resume. We’ve seen some examples of great resumes for Flight Attendant and went over the most important section that every resume should have.We now know what information is important and what is not important. The only thing left to be done now is for you to go and write your own resume. However, if you still feel like you are not up to the task, feel free to use our resume template creator and make your perfect resume in just a moment. Comparison Of EteoclesAntigone And Creon - 755 Words

Antigone and Creon are two characters that may be considered too similar in personalities, which causes some commotion. Both are confident and persistent in their beliefs and will do what they believe is best in their mind. Antigone is guilty in the eyes of the law because she buried her brother, Polynices, a traitor to Thebes, against Creon’s ruling. Creon has banned Polynices’ burial because he fought for power against Thebes and his own brother, Eteocles, who also died in the battle. Eteocles was granted a proper burial for dying in the name of Thebes, but Polynices was not. Antigone is worried about his burial rights because it is her job as a woman in the family to make sure that her brother is buried so he can get to the afterlife†¦show more content†¦Family is portrayed as the most important thing to Antigone, other than her religious beliefs. She is willing to risk her life to guarantee her brother an eternity, all because it is her duty that her other sister was not brave enough to complete. She shows selflessness and an attitude that she would die for her family no matter the circumstance. Creon was so worried of his reputation around his kingdom that he pushed away his family in a time of need. He doesn’t think of what the gods may say, he thinks of what his new city will think of him if he takes back his ruling that he was very clear and precise of. Antigone even tells Creon â€Å"nor did I think your edict has such force that you, a mere mortal, could override the gods† (lines 504-505) because she believes that he is forgetting that his power on earth will not compare to the power the gods have over him. Creon may believe that he is better than the gods because he has that power feeling of dominance and he wants to be in control. A positive trait that comes out of Creon’s case is that he remained loyal to his city while Antigone would be considered a traitor, or a modern-day criminal. Creon did not get fl akey when he realized the person behind the crime was his niece and future daughter in law, he remained strong for his reasoning’s and banished her to be executed, which caused more

Hedonism Essay Research Paper There is no free essay sample

Hedonism Essay, Research Paper There is no uncertainty that pleasance is good. Whether the pleasance is emotional or physical ; whether we get this pleasance through gustatory sensation, touch, sight, aroma, or hearing ; it makes no difference. Pleasure is ever gratifying. In fact the words pleasance and good are frequently times interchangeable. After seeing a film I liked, I may state person that the movie was enjoyable or that it was good. Both descriptions have a positive intension. But while pleasance is doubtless good, it is non the highest good and surely non the merely good, as the Hedonist would state. First, we must look at illustrations throughout the universe which will turn out that pleasance is non the highest good. One illustration would be a sadistic kid molester who gets pleasure out of ravishing immature kids. Harmonizing to the Hedonist this sickening act would be good because the molester is acquiring pleasance out of it. Of class they would reason that this is non the pleasance they speak of because it will turn out to be bad for the molester in the long tally. He will be sent to gaol and be ostracized from society, doing him much more hurting than pleasance. Therefore this would non be an illustration of Hedonic pleasance. But the Hedonist is doing a really unsafe premise: the molester will ever acquire caught and ever be punished. Unfortunately, this is non ever the instance. Many people get off with their offenses everyday without experiencing the wrath of justness. So if a molester gets pleasure out of small kids, is it good? If a Hedonist were to reply yes, so it does non look like a sound philosophical point of view. For another illustration, we can turn to the Holocaust. Over six million Jews and infinite others were killed at the custodies of the Nazis. While many of the Nazis were disgusted by the violent deaths ( Oscar Schindler was one ) an even greater sum got pleasance out of it. They thought that they were making the universe a good by fring it of the inferior human elements. It was this thought that led to 1000000s of barbarous deceases. Yet really few Nazi? s were of all time prosecuted. Many fled to other states and continued their lives without of all time taking duty for the flagitious offenses they committed. In fact, many still felt inwardly proud of the responsibility they had done for the Aryan race. So harmonizing to the Hedonist the Nazis were making nil incorrect every bit long as they were acquiring pleasance. Once once more this is a difficult construct to accept as true. A Hedonist will state to look closely at our society and lives and we will see that we live harmonizing to pleasance. Everyone wants to be happy and felicity is straight correlated with pleasance. But, in fact, our society is non run on the footing that pleasance is the highest good. If it were, our whole justness system would neglect. In tribunal, a liquidator? s defence would be? I got pleasance out of the killings. ? As a Hedonist, the justice would so hold to put the condemnable free. Our fundamental law is founded on the thought that every individual has the right to life, autonomy, and the chase of felicity, but non pleasance. Our establishing male parents knew that if our society was based entirely on pleasance so people would be making whatever they wanted to make whenever they wanted to make it. A Hedonic society would be helter-skelter and lawless ; it merely would non work. Now that I ha ve shown that pleasance is non the highest good, it will be easy to turn out that it is non the merely good. One illustration would be Mahatma Gandhi, the freedom combatant who used non-violent opposition to liberate India from British regulation. Ghandi went through great sums of physical hurting to acquire his message across. He went on hungriness work stoppages for hebdomads at a clip, wholly hungering himself. Ghandi was seting up with great personal forfeit for the good of his people. This puts a large hole in the Hedonistic logical thinking. Ghandi did a great good for all of humanity. He freed a state of people without any bloodshed and left a bequest of non-violent opposition for coevalss to come. He did this all through great forfeit to him and his household. There was no pleasance involved. Yet what Ghandi did was clearly good. So he did a good without pleasance. Another illustration along the same lines goes back to the Holocaust. Oscar Schindler, the affluent mill proprietor, paid for Jews to work at his mill so they wouldn? t run into their about certain decease in the concentration cantonments. Schindler saved the lives of 100s of Jews. But at the same clip he lost all his money, his concern, and even his dignity. At the terminal of the film, when the Germans were defeated and Jews were liberated, Schindler was a broken adult male. He felt he should hold and could hold done more to forestall the tragic loss of lives, even if it was merely one more individual he could hold saved. Schindler got non pleasure out of salvaging the lives of the Jews, yet he is still honored as an model homo being. He was compassionate and acted altruistically. This illustration shows how we value things other than pleasance. We value compassion and self-less workss that benefit society as a whole, non merely a individual individual. The Hedonist must be incorre ct in stating that pleasance is the lone value, because it is obvious that there are other things we value. One of these other things we value is freedom. Patrick Henry was made celebrated in American history for his anti-Hedonistic, radical statement, ? Give me liberty, or give me decease! ? He would instead decease than to be suppressed under unfair authorities. The laminitis of non-violent opposition, Henry Thoreau, gave great logical thinking to this thought in his celebrated essay? Civil Disobedience. ? Thoreau realized that there are things more of import than pleasance. He knew of the duties that come along with freedom, among these, the responsibility to protect that freedom at whatever the cost. He said it is necessary to do selflessnesss to derive and keep our freedom. Every civil rights leader is cognizant of this fact. Martin Luther King knew that he was at a great hazard for being assassinated, yet he was willing to do this forfeit so that inkinesss in America would be free. These are merely a few illustration throughout American history where people have valued freedom over p leasance ; in fact, freedom over life itself. Therefore a Hedonist is incorrect when he states pleasance is the lone value. There are infinite other illustrations in mundane life where we see things other than pleasance valued. Love, cognition, and leading are all of import whether or non they lead to pleasure. So while it is true that pleasance is good, it is non ever good, nor is it the highest good, and decidedly non the merely good. Hedonism is incorrect. 317

The Death Penalty Essays (575 words) - Penology, Crime,

The Death Penalty In the eighteenth century, England would punish by death for pickpocketing and petty theft. Ever since the 1650's colonist could be put to death for denying the true god or cursing their parents advocates. Capital Punishment have clashed almost continuously in the forum of public opinion in state legislatures and most recently in courts. In 1972,the case of furman vs.Georgia reached the supreme court. The court decided that punishment by death did indeed violate the eighth amendment to containing that "excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted." By this decision death sentences all over the country were set aside. The three most common death penalties are the gas chamber, lethal injection, and the electric chair. Capital punishment has become an increasingly controversial issue over many decades. The problem lies between, is the death penalty being accepted in murder cases or ruled out completely. While some people feel that Capital Punishment will not discourage crime, Capital punishment should be legalized in all states, because it is morally just and it will deter crime. The many opponents of capital punishment who are against it feel that the death penalty is not a deterrent and that it is barbariaertic of the past. It has no place in a civilized society today. One of the biggest arguments against capital punishment is people feel that it violates the eighth amendment which forbids cruel and unusual punishment. People against Capital Punishment believe the death penalty is absurd and is in un-christian practice. Further more, they feel society should not" encourage sentiments of vengenance cater to morbid interest in ritual execution." Criminologists also built a strong case that the threat of death failed to deter murder, anymore effectively than prison. Therefore, to inflict harm to one,it is simply useless. However, the punishment fits the crime therefore, it is morally just. Capital punishment is an expression of society's moral outrage at offensive conduct. This may be appealing to many but it is essential in an ordered society. It asks our citizens to rely on legal procedures rather than to self-help their wrongs doings. It is morally right to sentence a person to the death penalty who has commited a serious crime as murder. If someone has murdered a person it is unethical to let the murderer live when you have an innocent person who is dead. Capital Punishment has to be based entirely on consideration of justice and morality. Finally, the death penalty is a deterrent against crimes. Statistics show that the crime rate is reduced in all states that hold the death penalty. The point given to these people is that they are less likely to commit a crime knowing they will receive the ultimate punishment to kill. "No other punishment deters men so effectively from committing crimes as the punishment of death". Still, Capital Punishment is supported by many Americans. They usually rely on deterrence as their main reason to deter people from committing serious crimes. Hopefully Capital Punishment will be legalized in many states to eliminate violence from american life. Many people feel Capital Punishment will not discourage crime . It promotes murder rather than deter it. A desire for suicide is what leads some murders to their criminal acts. Capital Punishment should remain legalized in all states. The two main reasons are it is morally just and it will deter crime. The way our society is today we need to continue on with the death penalty. It deters other murders and it protects our society from them. Clearly, the usage of the death penalty will force crime to be unacceptable in our world and protect our citizens.

Business Reforms Essay

Business Reforms Essay Business Reforms Essay In this assignment I will be looking at the main physical and technological resources required in the operation of Barclays. Firstly I will be describing the main physical resources of Barclays then after this I will be looking at the technological resources used within my organization. Physical resources are what the business needs to maintain in order to carry out its activities. They include things like the buildings, facilities, plant and machinery. Management of physical resources involves planning maintenance and refurbishment, this includes organising insurance to keep those resources safe. Buildings and Facilities Barclays will need to have premises from where it can operate, this can be anywhere ranging from a persons home to tower block offices over the world. The buildings play an important role in the image of the business and can make potential customers want to work with the business even more. An example of this being the building that Lloyds use is now so famous that it has become a tourist attraction around London. Barclays and many other financial institutions still have their head offices in central London close to the stock exchange so that they maintain links with clients in other leading companies. The layout of the facility is also key, when a customer enters a building the facilities must be arranged, such as a meeting room or front desk of the building. Banks often have desks or rooms where clients can talk to an advisor about financial products such as mortgage loans as well as a screened area where cash is exchanged. For some businesses the attractiveness of the building itself is not half as important as the on goings on the inside. For a company such as Amazon they will use large industrial warehouses using a lot of machinery. The public do not visit these buildings so they are designed to be as efficient as possible and may not necessarily look attractive. Other business such as Barclays may use the building facility to market the type of product or service that they are offering. Materials and Waste Materials that are needed by a business will very much depend on the type of operation that it is running and the people that are working within the organisation. Barclays will need lots of computing equipment, phones, printers and paper for the employees to use. Some of the materials used within Barclays will be recyclable material such as paper, while other companies uses non recyclable materials such as oil. Every business needs to be wary of how much materials they use and try to avoid wasting materials, this will also keep the costs lower within the company. The waste that is produced by the business has to be taken away by another agency such as the council or a private company. It makes good business sense to reduce the amount of waste as this cuts waste disposal costs, which should help lead to higher profits for the business. The government sees mass reduction as important for the environment and has funded the envirowise campaign, this is giving tips on ways to do this. Plant and Machinery Just like materials and buildings, each business has specific requirements for the type of plant and machinery that it may need. A business may spend thousands and thousands of pounds on its factory machinery and buying everything that is needed in order to make the business a success. For other businesses it may be easier and more cost effective to lease what is needed. Emergency provision The health and safety at work act 1974 requires organisations to drag up policies and provisions for what should happen in the event of an emergency within the building. This means that each employee must be given evacuation training, in the event of an emergency the employee with have clear instructions provided about what to do in the event of a fire. The organization must also provide equipment for the safety of the

5 Questions to Always Ask at an Internship Interview

5 Questions to Always Ask at an Internship Interview You’re all prepped and ready, and you’ve sailed through your internship interview. You’re all dressed up and feeling like a power adult and then: WOMP. The interviewer asks you a question you will probably come to dread in your job-searching life, but aren’t quite prepared for now: â€Å"What questions do you have for us?† Even seasoned pros can get tripped up at this point in an interview. But you can dazzle your interviewer by not skipping a beat and asking the following five questions in your internship interview. Plus, you’ll get necessary information you probably didn’t realize you needed.1. How would you describe the work culture here?Getting a feel for the atmosphere, the pace, the camaraderie or lack thereof, is really important in determining whether you’d be a good fit. Ask the recruiter to sketch out what happens in a typical day. Whether there is an established routine, and how exact it is.2. What is your favorite as pect of working for this company? They probably won’t be expecting this one, so it’s your chance to turn the tables a bit. Push for a real answer. (Though you probably won’t have to; remember the interview process is also about the hiring manager selling you on the job. Give them the chance to sweeten it up for you!)3. What have interns done before me that really made them stand out? This does double duty. It shows you’re hungry to impress them and excel, and it also gives you a great leg up, if you were to land the position, on how to hit the ground running. Listen very carefully, and take good notes.4. Is there anything I can clarify for you?And the follow-up: â€Å"Or any hesitations about my qualifications?† It’s bold and assertive without being too pushy and shows that you’re eager to prove your worth to them while being sensitive to their precise needs for the position.5. What will the next step in this process be?You know youâ₠¬â„¢re going to go home and sweat this out. But you probably don’t realize you’re allowed to ask for a ballpark timeline of what to expect and when. It’s also a great way to bring an interview to a close. If they say they’re still interviewing for another 4-6 weeks, then you’ll know not to sit at home by your phone for the next month.Note any important dates in your calendar, and make sure to leave a friendly and positive impression as you leave the office. Eventually, this process will get easier!

Gary Kelly CEO of Southwest Airlines Research Paper

Gary Kelly CEO of Southwest Airlines - Research Paper Example He has a background as an accountant (Fitzpatrick). He has proven himself throughout the years to be both a steady leader and a confident innovator. The airline industry is extremely competitive and profit margins are at the mercy of a number of factors beyond the control of even the most activist CEO. He is routinely called one of the best CEOs in the United States (McCann). His personal background is somewhat instructive. A story is told of him wanting to be an oceanographer as a young man, but then moving to Texas to play football in university. It was a bad season and he moved on to try something else: accountancy (Fitzpatrick). Throughout his life he is quick to size up errors and shift focus when things are not working out. There are few better qualities in the leader of a large business. In a sense Kelly comes to work in the shadow of the man who built Southwest Airlines, Herb Kelleher, but he has distinguished himself from the founder in a number of ways. While most other air lines were seeking to charge customers for every pretzel, Kelly saw an opportunity. People thought he was crazy, but he decided to respect customers. He saw the market going one way, and he understood instinctively that space was opening for Southwest to seize. He refused to charge customers for baggage, and the company quickly shot to profitability. A recent article quoted Kelleher on his successor. "To be an excellent leader, you have to be a superb follower," Kelleher said. "Gary has provided great leadership. We transitioned for three years, and then he took over everything that I normally did. I'm very, very pleased and proud of his accomplishments" (LA Times). Being adaptable has helped Kelly and Southwest succeed in a way that few airlines have done in this day and age. Not only has he expanded Southwest's market, but he has become something of a legend. A story that business reporters like to quote goes as follows: When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans— Southw est Airline’s largest hub—the company’s service to the city dramatically dropped from 57 flights a day to just two. Â  But while the City of New Orleans was forced to lay off workers, Southwest was able to offer the option of relocation to all of its 250 New Orleans employees (McCann). For many other companies this would have been devastating, but for Kelly it was an opportunity. It is clear that his leadership style owes a great deal to seeing opportunity where others see disaster. He isn't afraid to pursue risky projects, but knows that customers come first. Recent problems with Southwest aircraft have given Kelly a chance to shine in front of the national media. In early April, a Southwest plane suffered from a tear in its fuselage. This attracted a great deal of attention and lead a number of news broadcasts. Kelly had a choice with this situation. He could have said that the problem was just a fluke, a once-in-a-lifetime structural defect. That would have been the easy thing to do. But instead he chose to show what kind of leader he is. He ordered the fleet grounded for inspection (Martin, et al). Kelly understood that branding and marketing are important, but that when it comes to basic issues of safety, airlines cannot afford to skimp. Recovering from the negative attention can only be done by showing that Southwest has a safety climate with a real abundance-of-caution philosophy. His actions were widely heralded, even if they were expensive and

Bradstreets An Author to Her Book :: essays papers

Bradstreets An Author to Her Book It is hard to sympathize with someone when you have no idea where they are coming from or what they are going through. It is similar experiences that allow us to extend our sincere appreciation and understanding for another human being’s situations and trials of life. Anne Bradstreet’s â€Å"The Author to Her Book† expresses the emotions that Bradstreet felt when her most intimate thoughts were published to the world without her consent. The average person would not see the cause for distress that Bradstreet feels in this situation. She had written a collection of near perfect poetry, which expressed her feelings in a way that the majority of women during that time did not have the talent or training to do. Many would wonder why she would be disturbed about these works being printed when they had brought many people pleasurable reading and had brought Bradstreet herself much personal fame. Therefore, Bradstreet can not just write a straightforward poem to t ell how she feels about her stolen thoughts. Unless her reader happens to be a writer, he or she would not be able to sympathize with Bradstreet in this matter. Instead, she had to use a situation in which her readers could comprehend the many emotions she experienced. No doubt, many women read her poetry, and the majority of women during that time were, or would one day be mothers. This similarity opened a door for understanding. By comparing her writing to a child, Bradstreet is able to win the compassion of her readers and help them understand the feelings that she experiences. Bradstreet sees herself s the â€Å"mother† (line 23) of this work, which she calls an â€Å"ill-formed offspring† (line 1) and she gives the work many human characteristics to enhance the effect of the conceit. She says that the â€Å"child† had been by her side until â€Å"snatched from thence by friends, less wise than true† (line 3). Bradstreet’s works would probably never have been published had it not been for her brother-in-law. A person she thought she could trust saw fit to take her works back to England and have them published without her consent. He took her most intimate thoughts and placed the future of them in his own hands and she was never consulted. She shares an intimacy with her work like that of a mother and child and that intimacy was infringed upon when her work was â€Å"exposed to public view† (line 4).

I Am I Am Not Poster

A balloon is sucked in with air just like human. I can keep it plain and simple. I know how to act when the time is right. I like to celebrate different holidays. Balloons represent many things. I enjoy being creative and making kids happy. I think that a balloon best translates me. Balloons can be used for transportation. N You cannot see through me or in me. You can't make predictions or assumptions about me if you never even met me. Don't try to knock me down or break me apart because it won't work. Have way too much confidence for that, and believe that I'll go somewhere in life with it.I am not like glass. Glass is as clear as a dirty mirror. What I mean by clear as a dirty mirror is you cannot see your reflection through a dirty mirror and you can't see your reflection through glass. Glass is brittle, the imparted causes it to break, shatter or explode. No! Am not brittle. You can't tear me apart that quickly. Glass is very fragile. I'm not. You do not only drink from a glass b ut you use it for many things. I am not used for many things I am used to be one person not 1 0,000 other people, but just one. I don't have billions of different characters and personality. If you're that kind of person that tries too hard to be someone else and act like a brat than you already ruined your reputation. Think that a glass best represents me. CLC am like a bike. A bike rides on the street. When you are riding you are not looking back. Look up to the future I do not look at what and was and stays the past. I keep going and see how far I can go, and when reach my destination I will keep going till there no more room for more. A bike is like a moving machine. I am fun to play with. I also enjoy riding my bike, when my wheels are not flat. A bike sometimes falls and crashes in to places.I sometimes can be clumsy, I may drop, spill, and break something, but never mean it. A bike just keeps moving and moving and moving till the driver puts it on break. Same with me I keep on going and going till put a break on it which is my death. When you're riding your bike all you feel is the cool wind blowing you're on your face and hair. When am on my bike feel like life is put on pause and am the only one moving. Life's a journey so enjoy the ride. A bike can move as fast as a speeding truck, just depends who's behind it. I believe that a bike best translates me.Grades do not represent me. I may do horrible on one assignment but fairly well in another. Grades could mean anything, it could mean this person was tired, didn't know, not fully taught, or was absent. Some teachers time you on the test or quiz and I don't like to be rushed. Some people like me, may think that grades on assignment may make you or break you. That's probably why I'm so worried about my grades. For example, the final exam is worth 15% of your grade so it could hold you for another year or bring you to 9th grade with a good report. Your Choices are crossroads. You may think that grades deter mine if you're smart or not so smart. Some students say I am soaring above the normal learning curve and, others may say I need more help. Some people get nervous when they get a test or quiz and fail. Other may say this is easy and pass with a 100. Grades are like jinx. By, jinx I mean if you did well on an assignment you'll think that you're so smart that you're going to pass this other assignment without studying. All that I'm trying to say is that grades does not represent if I'm smart or not so smart. Others may disagree but this is just opinion Grades do not represent me.

Is Low Education Attainment - 1010 Words

The most significant problem faced by the people I am interacting with is low education attainment, which may have a correlation to low household income. 6% of the population does not attend high school at all, 18.1% of the population drops out of high school, 30.7% of the population graduates high school, 26% of the population gets some college education, 7.3% of the population gets Associates Degree, 7.3% of the population gets Bachelor’s Degree, and 4.5% of the population get Graduate/Professional Degree. With low education attainment, people usually turn to minimum wage jobs since those jobs do not a college degree. 80.8% of the population does not have a college degree, which could potentially lead to low income and less educated†¦show more content†¦While it is true that money is not the complete reflection of individuals’ lives, less income might lead to other problems, such as increased crime rate, becoming homeless, starving, and more. I am volunteerin g with an organization called Ready Readers. Ready Readers is a St. Louis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and inspiriting preschool age children from low-income communities to appreciate books and have literacy skills needed to become readers when they enter kindergarten. My organization is reading books to address the issue of low education attainment. Volunteers read books to the same classroom of children for about 30 minutes every week in hopes to inspire children to become readers by reading aloud to them, increasing their exposure to quality books, and providing literacy-related experiences. According to 2013-2014 Outcome Study, Ready Readers hired LS Associates to develop and implement an outcome study, designed to measure children’s engagement with books and reading-related behaviors in four early childhood centers. Additionally, data was collected from the teachers and volunteers participating in the Ready Readers program. The
